Damiano Zito is the CEO of Progold S.p.A. which produces precious and semi-finished metal alloys in gold, platinum and titanium obtained directly with 3D printing.
He is a member of the Board of Federorafi and is assigned to Regulations and Innovation, is Chairman of the “Gems and precious Metals Group” of the Italian Unification Body (UNI) and chairman of the entrepreneurial area Advisory Board of the “CUOA Foundation” Business School of Altavilla Vicentina.
For his thirty years experience in the sector and prolific research activities, in 2006 he was assigned the title of ambassador of the Santa Fe’ Symposium, of which he was a speaker in 6 editions. His company’s Research and Development Department has received best research awards 6 times.
Dr Chris Corti is a technologist with over 38yrs experience developing and exploiting technology in the precious metals industry. He worked with Johnson Matthey Plc and World Gold Council before setting up his own technology consultancy in 2009. He studied metallurgy at University and has worked in the energy industry in the UK and Switzerland before moving into the precious metal industry. He has published widely and presented on jewellery topics many times at the Jewellery Technology Forum and the Santa Fe Symposium.
Claudio Tomassini was born in Rome on 11 December 1959.
After his law degree and initial experience in the legal offices of a fashion couture company, in 1982 he joined Confedorafi, becoming Director from 1989 until 2005. From 1984 to 1988 he was also General Secretary of the National Federation for precious metals, Banchi Metalli Preziosi.
In the period 2006 to 2011 he was in charge of legislation, technical standards and copyright for Assicor – Unioncamere and since 2011, he has held the same position at Unionfiliere – Unioncamere.
He coordinates the work group for “Precious metals and gemmology” of UNI, the Italian standards agency, and is also a member of the Gold Design Jury.
In 2014 he became a partner at the De Carolis legal firm in Rome.
He has been a member of numerous work groups for gold and jewellery legislation, representing Italy in different international groups (CIBJO, Precious Metals Convention, IAAO, etc.)
Tomassini has also taught at IED, the University of Macerata and the Guglielmo Tagliacarne institute.
He speaks at national and international conventions as well as writing articles and books on Italian and international standards regulating precious metals.
Andrea Friso performs at Legor Group S.p.A. as Sales Division Manager of Master Alloys. Materials engineering graduated in 2003, he starts his cooperation with Legor Group in 2004 by writing his graduation thesis about ‘innovatively colored gold alloys’. He is the company business role operating between sales force, production and R&D, relying upon matured professional experience on the different product types and their positioning on different markets. He supports sales forces on commercial planning and the achievement of objectives together with their periodic control. He cooperates with the technical and R&D dept. as for development, enhancement and promotion of products.
Dr. Ulrich E. Klotz is Diploma Engineer in Physical Metallurgy (University of Stuttgart, Germany) and holds a PhD in Materials Science from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He is Head of the Department of Physical Metallurgy at the Research Institute for Precious Metals & Metals Chemistry (fem) in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany
Dr. Filipe Silva is a professor in the Mechanical Engineering department of the University of Minho, Guimarães, Portugal, and holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the same university. He has worked for several jewelry companies and has published many papers for journals and conferences.
Dr. Juzi Li is an associate professor in Gemmological Institute,China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).He holds an M.S. in Gemology from that University as well as a Ph.D. in Gemology (with a concentration in precious metals) from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). He also was a visiting scholar in The University of Alabama from January ,2014 to November,2015. He is the author of 16 papers and two books, has hosted seven scientific projects regarding jewelry, and founded the Juzi Jewelry Company.
Frank Cooper is a lifelong jewellery industry professional and a Senior Lecturer in Jewellery Manufacturing Technologies, and Manager of the Centre for Digital Design and Manufacturing, at the Birmingham School of Jewellery. He sits on the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council and is a globally recognised expert in the application of various Additive Manufacturing and prototyping/3D printing technologies used in the jewellery industry. He is an active participant in a number of Jewellery Industry related research initiatives and has written and presented many technical papers and articles published and presented around the world and in the UK and Europe, as well as at the Santa Fe Symposium in America. His research papers and presentations currently specialise in the areas of Additive Manufacturing, CAD and prototyping/3D Printing for the Jewellery and Silversmithing Industries.
Associate Professor since 2009 at the Department of Industrial Engineering of Padova University. The scientific activity is addressed to surface treatments of metals, corrosion of metals, powder metallurgy and metallic nanopowder production. He is author of about 100 scientific and technical papers. Member of the Italian Association of Metallurgy and of the European Sonochemical Society. Scientific manager in several European projects on nanoparticles production and to surface treatments of metals.
