After having been honoured with the Confartigianato Design Award and exhibited at Expo 2015, The Jewel of Vicenza, silver model of the city, meets the international public at the Vicenza Fair.
Its reconstruction was carried out according to the image recreated by Architect Romano Concato, winner of the competition dating back to 2010. This majestic votive jewel, demanded in 1578 by the Vicenza population to ward off the wave of plague that was scouring Europe and destroyed by Napoleon in 1797, rises again after 200 years thanks to the use of 3D design and printing with atomized Powmet silver by Legor Group, and to the skilled, centuries-old handmade finishes of silversmith master Carlo Rossi.
The Jewel represents the idealization of the historic town centre designed according to the “divine proportion”, mathematical synthesis of the entire Renaissance. The model with a 60-cm diameter is made of 65 kg of silver and has been rebuilt in 4 years of work by a Committee (now an Association) thanks to the contribution of 200 donors, companies, associations and public institutions and has become the city Ambassador in all international contexts.
A small golden wheel is the only casted element, and the clock face is made of Cloisonné enamel.
Exhibited at T-GOLD VICENZAORO from 22 to 25 January, Pad. 9 stand 160.
Press conference and presentation aperitif on Saturday 23rd January, 12 am.
